Objectives

The main objective of the project is to preserve and protect cultural heritage to contribute to encouraging minorities to stay and adhere to staying in their homeland.

Activities

  • Coordinating with the government agencies of Al-Hamdaniya district in order to facilitate the entry and exit process for the organization’s staff during the implementation of the project
  • Coordinating with the Administrative Committee of Mar Sarkis and Bacchus Church to develop an appropriate plan for the workflow.
  • Continuous communication with the executing company and the engineering committee of the church, with arranging periodic field visits to the work site
  • Implementation of all paragraphs included in the bill of quantities in accordance with the required technical and engineering specifications.
  • Some executive details were later added to the engineering survey of the church, as requested by the church administration, represented by Bishop (Mar Nicodemus), the Archbishop of the Diocese of Mosul.
  • There were interventions from His Excellency Mar Nicodemus, Archbishop of the Syriac Orthodox Church, demanding changes that were not planned and included in the approved schedule of quantities, such as: a request to keep all church domes without scuffing with any kind of plaster, which means the need to clean and treat every small stone Very carefully, and this requires more time and effort, although the idea is more acceptable to the work team, because it preserves the historical, architectural and cultural aspect of the church, but the work requires more time as well as a larger budget for this paragraph.
  • Adding 2000 meters of Mosul Farish marble inside and outside the church (Muqarnas, columns, dalkat, banners for window arches, doors, arches) The cost of materials and labor for this additional paragraph was 7.000.000 Iraqi dinars.
  • Adding 20 M2 of Mosul Farish marble to cover a side room near the altar, the cost of materials and labor for this additional paragraph was 4,500,000 Iraqi dinars.
  • Making a hole in the wall and opening a side iron door leading to the room located near the altar the cost of building materials and the iron door and labor for this additional paragraph is 250,000 Iraqi dinars.
  • Additional electrical works as requested by the church management committee and the establishment of new internal and external electrical points at a cost of 900,000 Iraqi dinars.
  • Technical and engineering stitching works for the church ceiling instead of plastering it, which led to an additional cost for the project.
