Within the projects of the Eastern Christianity Sector funded by the Catholic Archdiocese of Cologne / EK, CAPNI Organization has contributed to support the activity of the Ankawa Youth Meeting – AYM (2023), the Bible verse ” Do this in remembrance of me” (Luke 22:19) was chosen as a motto of the activity this year. The youth of all the Dioceses of Iraq gathered to participate in the activity of AYM 2023 for three days, from June 29th to July 1st, 2023.
The program of the Ankawa Youth Meeting (2023) included an evening of hymns performed by Father Peter Hanna, who came from Lebanon to participate in this youth gathering, in addition to interventions by Priests and Sisters, which gave a distinctive spiritual atmosphere to the meeting.
The program of the second day included Christian catechism lectures presented by Priests and Sisters, various entertainment activities, and an evening of ritual chanting; It was followed by a prayer evening in front of the Blessed Sacrament, with biblical reflections and the opportunity for individual confessions for young people. The meeting concluded on the third and final day with the celebration of the Holy Mass, which was presided over by His Eminence Bishop Bashar Warda, along with the priests participating in the meeting. In his sermon, he focused his eminence on the person of the priest celebrating the Eucharist who receives the obligatory offerings, prays over them, leads the congregation in his prayers, and then delivers to the congregation. Stressing the importance and centrality of the role of the priest, asking for prayers on the intention of the priests. At the end of the sermon, Bishop Bashar revealed the focus of the next meeting, which will be held at the end of August next year 2023, and which will be about the sacrament of marriage.
