With the support of the Lutheran Church in Bayern, the CAPNI organization, in partnership with the Ufuq Organization for Development, held a discussion session with decision-makers in Baghdad on November 24, 2023, to amend Article 26th of the Unified Card Law of 2016. The danger of having laws that may be expelling religious minority communities from Iraq was praised. The session was attended by a number of social and official leaders and was discussed extensively. The attendees reached a number of important recommendations, which were adopted by Parliament Member Mr. Osama Al-Badri to put pressure on the legislative and executive authorities to amend this article. He promised to be the voice of this campaign in the Iraqi Council of Representatives and to deliver the recommendation to Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani, who included amending the law in his cabinet program.
“CAPNI, as a Christian organization, seeks tolerance, & social justice for society, where minority & vulnerable people have a dignified existence and security” and keep the “Hope Alive”.
